Father Winterkorn was reportedly removed as pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in 1993 after he allegedly admitted to a long-term sexual relationship with a female parishioner that began when she was still a minor. He has been assigned to a life of prayer and penance according to a Diocese of Rochester list of priests who were removed from ministry since 2002.
