Catholic Priest

John D. Mott

Ordained: 1956

Father Mott has been accused of sexual abuse by multiple women and has faced at least two civil law suits, according to USA Today. Mott resigned as pastor from St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Franklin Square in 1995 citing health reasons, according to Newsday. Mott was named in a 1994 lawsuit that alleged he sexually abused a 15-year-old girl while she was a member of a youth group at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in East Meadow. Mott was reportedly sent for a psychiatric evaluation and was allowed to continue serving as pastor after a finding that he was “not a threat to any person right now.” Mott has been accused of sexual abuse by additional women and it has been reported that he has undergone psychiatric evaluation at least twice.
