Basil Peter Congro

Father Congro was accused of sexually abusing a minor boy in the 1980s, according to a 2003 lawsuit. The plaintiff alleged that Congro abused him while Congro was a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in East Islip. It has been alleged that Congro groped and sodomized the minor in various places, including the church rectory. Congro reportedly moved to South Carolina in the early 1990s where he served in numerous parishes.
