Angelo J. Ditta
Ordained: 1986
Father Ditta was removed from ministry in 2002 following allegations of abuse that the Diocese had reportedly received in 1997. In 1997, a man met with the Diocesan Vice Chancellor and told him that he was repeatedly molested by Ditta in the parish rectory in Selden. The Diocese reportedly did not notify Suffolk County law enforcement officials. The Suffolk District Attorney’s office has maintained that they should have been notified in 1997 when the “case may have been prosecutable.” Ditta is accused of sexually abusing an altar boy in the 1980s. The abuse is said to have occurred at Our Lady of Grace Church, St. Margaret of Scotland in Selden and St. Louis de Monfort in Sound Beach. Ditta has allegedly been identified as ‘Priest H’ in a grand jury report. According to the grand jury report, an associate pastor from Priest H’s parish testified in the Grand Jury that he heard “horsing around” coming from the private room of Priest H. The housekeeper allegedly stated that it was not horsing around because “I changed the sheets.” The report further states that Priest H received therapy and went on a leave of absence for psychological evaluation and treatment.
