Stephen Placa

It was reported that Father Placa left active ministry in 2002, obtained his pilot’s license, and founded a flight school in Ronkonkoma, Long Island. The New York Times reported that Placa was eventually convicted of sexual abuse of two boys aged 8 and 10, respectively. The Diocese of Brooklyn has confirmed that Placa was ordained in 1995 and ultimately was laicized as a result of a decree from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which is the Vatican office authorized to deal with cases involving sexual abuse of minors by a cleric.
