Peter Kiarie
Ordained: 1993
Father Kiarie was a visiting priest who traveled to the U.S. to raise money for church work in Africa. He was arrested following allegations that he sexually abused a minor boy. It was alleged that Kiarie met the boy while at Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians Church in Woodside, where the boy’s mother worked. During the criminal trial, the boy testified that Kiarie fondled him on a beach, in a bodega, in a restaurant, and at a bus stop. Kiarie was found not guilty by a Queens jury in 2003.
