Father Carroll was accused of sexual misconduct in the 2000s. Although a Diocesan Tribunal and Catholic Church officials in Rome reportedly found insufficient evidence that Carroll had sexually abused minors, it is alleged that Carroll was identified as “Priest P” in a Suffolk County Grand Jury report. The report alleged that a nun testified that ‘Priest P’ had sexual contact with at least four boys and that a “senior cleric in the diocese” knew about it. Priest P was reportedly sent for treatment but continued to celebrate Mass on weekends in a parish.
