Hugo Bedoya
Ordained: 1956
Hugo Bedoya, originally from Columbia, worked in the Dioceses of Lubbock, Texas and Brooklyn, New York. In 2003, while serving on the Judicial Vicar of Marriage Tribunal, he was named in a civil lawsuit along with 23 other priests. According to the lawsuit, Bedoya abused a young child at Fourteen Holy Martyrs in Bushwick, in the church, in the rectory, and elsewhere. The lawsuit further alleged that he examined the genitals of his altar boys in a group to make sure they were “clean.” Bedoya denied all the allegations, and despite another victim coming forward in 2004, he remained in the ministry until 2012.
