Damian Lawrence Cooper

Ordained: 1986

Father Cooper, also known as Father Damian, was ordained in 1986. He was accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl in the 1980s, according to a lawsuit filed in Vancouver in 2012. According to a spokesman from the Vancouver Archdiocese, Father Damian was removed from ministry in 1994 after the woman came forward. Cooper reportedly went on to work as an associate pastor at the Diocese of Rockville Centre, including serving at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lindenhurst. The Vancouver Sun previously reported that Cooper was terminated in 2001 for “problems of a similar nature.”
