A federal jury awarded a man $2.4 million who was repeatedly sexually abused by Brother Galligan when he was 8 years old.  The abuse is said to have started in 1977, after Galligan met the boy’s family while Galligan was working in a parish in New York City.  While Galligan did not appear in person at trial, the jury was shown a videotape of his deposition in which he admitted to sexually abusing the plaintiff.  Another witness testified about the abuse he suffered at the hands of Galligan.
