Father Allen was placed on administrative leave in 2006 following an investigation of sexual misconduct against Allen. Suffolk prosecutors reportedly conducted an investigation into the allegation against Allen – an allegation that Diocesan spokesman Sean Dolan said was “credible.” Father Allen was also mentioned in a 2003 lawsuit that accused Eugene Vollmer of sexual abuse. Specifically, the lawsuit alleged that Father Allen “knew or should have known” that the plaintiff and three other boys were being sexually abused by Vollmer at the church rectory.
