Barry E. Ryan
Ordained: 1976
Father Ryan was ordained in 1976 and served in active ministry until 1994. In 2004, Ryan pleaded guilty to molesting a 6-year-old boy. Ryan reportedly was receiving treatment for pedophilia at St. Luke’s Institute in Silver Spring, MD. It has been reported that Ryan was a member of the Air Force, but left in 1995 after allegedly facing allegations of sexual misconduct. The Diocese of Brooklyn has confirmed that Ryan was laicized as a result of a decree from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which is the Vatican office authorized to deal with cases involving sexual abuse of minors by a cleric.
