It has been reported that in the early 2000s, Brother Romanus was accused by a man who alleged that Romanus had sexually assaulted him in the 1960s. The man accused Romanus of assaulting him dozens of times in a classroom closet, bathhouse locker rooms, and the swimming pool changing rooms. The abuse allegedly occurred at Holy Name of Jesus Elementary School, where Brother Romanus was a teacher.
