Romano J. Ferraro

Romano Ferraro was arraigned in 2002 on charges of child rape and abuse. He was formally removed from ministry in 1988 and was convicted in 2004 of child sexual assault for repeatedly raping a young boy in the 1970s, according to the New York Times. As the New York Times reported, Ferraro is “believed to have been one of the most prolific priest pedophiles on the Eastern Seaboard.” Father Ferraro is said to have been transferred within and between Diocese, including the Diocese of Brooklyn and the Diocese of Rockville Centre. He has also served as a priest in New Jersey and Missouri, as well as in Florida and the Philippines. Ferraro has been laicized and is serving a life sentence.
